Python Pool

Today, we took a day trip out to Python Pool which is down the access road towards Tom Price. The waterfall was amazing and the drive was spectacular! What a difference some rain makes, we had a great picnic lunch beside the waterfall and drove back to be back by 4pm. The kids were pretty good rock hopping over the old creek rocks and had a great time with their Wahu's swimming in the waterhole.... Ahhhhh the Pilbara! 40 degrees again today.... in between cyclones!

Summer rain.....

When we arrived here, everyone told us it was the desert! It was, and still is, people were proud to tell us that Karratha had 4mm of rain in 18 months! Well, thats a myth, this year so far we have had 450mm of rain with 200mm of that in the last week. Our back lawn resembles something like seaweed at the moment and the last 2 days have seen the grass poke out into the sun again! The water was about an inch under our back sliding door which makes me think that another 100mm rain event wont be very good for the house, being a tin house, the water will get into every crack etc, so the doors are only a slight concern! We had some really nice rocks out the front, being good neighbours we gave them to the people down the road courtesy of the river that ran down our street. The drainage here in Nickol West is not the best, so good to have a rain event like this to iron out the bugs etc. Well, I best go out and tie the boat down, TC Carlos is knocking on our door and will be here Tuesday. Thats about number 5 for the year that we have had to prep for.

Broome time

Well, we had a choice to take the kids to Bali or to Broome. As luck would have it, I have never been to Broome however Rob has been a few times. I LOVED it! We had a sensational house at the Pearle resort (see pics) and spent most of our time hanging out in the pool! Great way to work on the all over tan! We of course did most of the obligatory things you do in Broome.... Camel rides, sunset bar, sunsets! Gantheaume Pt (looking for dinosaur footprints) Sunset bar, pearl shopping, sunset bar, Cable beach walks, sunset bar, Roebuck bay htl (which incidentally had a $500 wet t-shirt comp on Thursday nights, couldn't talk Rob into participating!) Croc park.... WOW the crocs, I have seen some creatures but these guys were cranky. Admittedly it was feeding time but we really did have to walk in the centre of the path as the big beasts were slamming into the fence trying to get to us. George wasn't far from my sight I gotta say! We even went to the sunset bar and Robyn found her new best drink... Matso Mule... Ginger beer, with vodka and lime with mint leaves. She did cop a bad dose of the sandfly bites the day after we got there, good one Rob, however with a bit of sympathy by Dr Micko she came through better than ever vowing to knock back more mules! The drive there and back was very uneventful and the kids were pretty good watching dvd's in their little seats. It rained quite a bit and we got a fair bit of weather off cyclone Bianca however it wasn't a big deal. I reckon I'll go back and the Pearle certainly set new standards as to what we should aim for in terms of accommodation!
